To get started with a more long-term and strategic work with health data, we start with a workshop with stakeholders from the organization(s) we work with. The aim is to break down the big elephant into concrete needs, both in the short and long term to gain an understanding of the needs and opportunities of the organization(s) we work with. We usually set aside a morning/afternoon 2.5-3h for the workshop.
Participants should be needs owners from different parts of the organization. It can be from administration, finance, IT, who have knowledge of the existing systems and how the work is conducted today, as well as those who sit on the actual problems/challenges, etc. We need people with knowledge of the business, problems/challenges and the planned development within the specific area you want to work with. It is important to be able to have the perspective of the here and now while at the same time having the ability to look ahead.
No preparation is needed, think openly and freely and we will concretize during the day. Everyone thinks selfishly based on their needs and challenges - think freely.
